UCS CLEANING

Community Involvment

At UCS Cleaning, we believe that making a positive difference in our community is as important as providing great service to our customers.  Our President, Ben Wells, is the co-chair of the Doc and Gayle Young Fall Food Drive, and our Vice President, Eric Maxwell, is the co-chair of the Austin Apartment Association’s Community Service Committee.  The charities that we support include:

Doc and Gayle Young Fall Food Drive

2008 marks the 22nd year of the Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive.  The Food Drive raises money throughout the year to purchase food packs, which are distributed by volunteers to needy families on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  The families that receive food packs are selected by the Austin Housing Authority and the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.

Each food pack contains enough food to feed a family of five a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner, including a 10-pound turkey, plus additional food to feed the family for three to five days thereafter.  Since the food is provided to the families in food packs rather than as prepared food, they are able to enjoy it in the comfort and dignity of their own homes.  In 2007, the Food Drive provided food packs to 1,350 families in the greater Austin area.

UCS Cleaning employees have raised over $5,000 for the Food Drive, and the company matches all employee donations dollar-for-dollar.
